You Are What You Believe You Are

You Are What You Believe You Are

People’s thoughts will hold them back from achieving their goals. I fell victim to this for a long time. I felt that I was destined to always be overweight. I would workout but not see any results. I came to false but what appeared to be true conclusion that my body just sucked and was never going to be able to change no matter what I did. This held me back for a long time. If you believe you can’t lose weight or exercising doesn’t work or whatever your limiting believe might be, you won’t succeed. That limiting belief basically acts as a de-motivator, causing you to not put in your full effort or any effort at all for that matter.

Fixing this requires a radical shift in your mindset. You have to throw that old limiting belief away and retrain your brain to believe that it is possible to succeed at your goal. This process won’t happen overnight. It will take time and effort. What really helped me was watching tons of motivational videos on YouTube. If you constantly flood your mind with positivity it will start to change the way you think. After a while I suddenly had a more positive mindset with not only reaching my weight loss goal but with my entire life. I didn’t look at the negative side of things anymore. Instead of thinking what could go wrong, I thought of what could go right. I realized that if I went all-in on something I would see results. If you only sort of put in effort you will only sort of see results. You must go all-in.

I also found that you have to not only believe you can change, you have to visualize your end goal. See it in your mind; feel the feeling you will feel when you reach that goal. Every day I would take time to imagine stepping on the scale and seeing my goal weight and just letting the emotion fill me up. It gave me even more motivation and strength to push myself.

Don’t let yourself fall in to a victim mentality. You are not a victim of your circumstances. Take control of your life, don’t let your life control you. I’ll leave you with one of my favorite motivational videos to let that sink in.
